Cody Johnson Performed on RODEOHOUSTON® Opening Night, Garnering the Third Highest Opening Night Paid Attendance Record
Cody Johnson performed Monday night, with a paid attendance of 70,554. His 2022 RODEOHOUSTON opening night performance, in celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, placed him in the third spot for the highest opening night paid attendance, joining the likes of George Strait and Garth Brooks.
“What better way to open the 2022 RODEOHOUSTON and kick off the 90th anniversary of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo than with Cody Johnson,” said Chris Boleman, president and CEO of the Rodeo. “Cody has quickly become a RODEOHOUSTON fan favorite, ever since he first stepped onto the RODEOHOUSTON stage in 2017. His 2022 opening night performance puts him in great company with George Strait and Garth Brooks.”

“Last night was a historical night for me as well as RODEOHOUSTON — sold-out opening day!” said Cody Johnson. “I can’t thank everyone enough for coming out and showing support to me and my band. Can’t wait to do it again next year!”
Johnson is a true friend of the Rodeo. He performs the Rodeo’s theme song, “Welcome to the Show,” which debuted in 2019. The Texas native made his fourth performance at RODEOHOUSTON on Monday night.
