In 2008, the Quick Draw Contest returned to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ as part of the annual School Art Program. The innaugeral contest in 2007 was successful in showcasing the artistic abilities of the participants and the number of participants has grown.

Participants in the Quick Draw Contest consist of high school students from school districts that are registered participants in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program. Contestants compete for cash prizes and the chance to attend a Glassell School of Art Workshop.

Each contestant is allowed 50 minutes to sketch on an 18”x24” sheet of art paper in either the Still Life or Portrait/Figurative Class.
