Chairman of the Board
Charles R. "Butch" Robinson

On May 15, 2008, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ board of directors elected Charles R. "Butch" Robinson as the Show's chairman of the board. Although Robinson has been affiliated with the Show, as both a member and a volunteer, for more than 25 years, his ties to the Show predate his work as a volunteer. Like many other native Houstonians, Robinson's introduction to the Show came as a child, when he attended the Houston Fat Stock Show.
Robinson's official involvement with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo began after he purchased a ranch in 1983. Needing to buy cattle, Robinson attended the Show and bought several bulls. With those purchases, Robinson decided to become involved with the Show and joined that year as a life member. In 1988, Robinson joined the Range Bull and Heifer Committee, which now is known as the All Breeds Livestock Sales Committee. In 1992, he served on the Resource Renewal Committee, which is now a part of the Facility Services Committee. In 1993, Robinson joined the Grand Entry Committee, where he later served as vice chairman. In 1997, he joined the Cutting Horse Committee, where he served as chairman from 1998 through 2000. He was elected to the board of directors in 1997.
From 2001 to 2003, he served as a vice president of the Show. As a vice president, Robinson was officer in charge of the Agricultural Mechanics, All Breeds Livestock Sales, Junior Commercial Steer Feeding and Management Contest, All Breeds Livestock Sales, and Trail Ride committees. Robinson was elected to serve on the Show's Executive Committee beginning in 2006, where he served as chairman of the Executive Committee's Audit subcommittee and as a member of the Rodeo Institute for Teacher Excellence™ board of directors. Robinson is a graduate of Rice University and is active in the Rice University "R" Association as well as the Owl Club. When he is not working on behalf of the Show, he is self-employed in the oil and gas industry. He also is a rancher with a cow/calf and horse operation.
Robinson lives in Houston with his wife, Paula, a Houston native who is a life member of the Show and is a member of the Trailblazer Committee. For many years, they have been champion buyers at several of the Show's auctions, including the Junior Market Lamb, Poultry and Steer auctions. They have three children, Monica, Ashley and Andy, who are all life members of the Show. Eldest daughter, Monica, serves on the Breeders Greeters Committee.
Executive Committee
The purpose of the Executive Committee is to give aid and authority to the officers and the managers of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ for the orderly operation and management of the Show as a civic and educational event. The committee also carries out the purposes and policies of the board of directors.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Executive Committee is comprised of the current Show chairman of the board, all past presidents and chairmen of the board, and at least five members elected from the board of directors, who may each serve up to nine, one-year terms.

President and Chief Executive Officer
Skip Wagner

Skip Wagner started his Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ career in 1992, serving as assistant general manager, primarily focused on the grounds entertainment, operations and fund-raising aspects of the event. Wagner continued in this capacity with the Show until 2000.
From 2000 through 2003, Wagner was president and general manager of the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City.
In 2004, Wagner returned to Houston, and, in 2005, became president and CEO of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He works with more than 20,000 volunteers and a great staff to ensure that the Show remains the premier entertainment and civic event in the Southwest. The 75th anniversary, celebrated in 2007, was the biggest and best ever, resulting in a record $16 million being contributed to programs benefiting Texas youth and education.
Wagner graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1982 with a degree in chemical engineering, and from Harvard Business School in 1986 with a master's degree in business administration. In addition to the organizations mentioned above, Wagner worked for Conoco for two years, a start-up software company for two years and the management consulting company, McKinsey and Co. for four years just prior to joining the Rodeo.
Wagner and his wife, Cindy, have been married 25 years and have four children. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Mays Business School Development Counsel. Wagner's personal interests include teaching young adult Bible classes, coaching youth sports, running and playing golf.
Officers
Each officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ is elected by the board of directors at its yearly meeting following the Show's annual meeting. These vice presidents are elected for one-year terms, serving no more than three successive years.
Serving as officer in charge, each officer handles many committee assignments. In addition to serving as a Show representative, officers provide vital leadership essential to keeping the Show vibrant and progressive.

Volunteers
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ would not be the well-run success that it is today without the vision, dedication and hard work of its volunteers. What began as a small group of people with a dream has developed into an event supported by the efforts of more than 22,000 volunteers.
Serving on nearly 100 different committees, these volunteers keep the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's mission alive. They commit their time and talents to support the youth of Texas, plus share a passion for our Western heritage.
What may be surprising to many is the diversity of volunteers that dedicate their time to this immense organization - people from Houston and hundreds of cities across Texas, people from outside of Texas, people who run multimillion dollar companies, people who are full-time students working on their education, people who are volunteering for the first time, people that have been volunteering for decades. There are no boundaries for these dedicated volunteers.
The efforts of the volunteers are most apparent during the Show when they are directing traffic, assisting exhibitors, providing hospitality, greeting guests, coordinating contests and more. But in a year's time, each volunteer donates an average of 67.7 hours of service to the Show. This includes year-round efforts such as raising money for scholarships, planning and organizing events, holding Go Texan contests, speaking to groups about the Show, working with auction buyers, setting up facilities and much more. Learn more about the Show by attending a Rookie Boot Camp session.
Committee Chairmen
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ committee chairmen have the honor, privilege and responsibility of working with the Show's massive volunteer force, which is 21,000 members strong! Chairmen are chosen because of their loyalty, commitment to excellence, perseverance and dedication to this organization.
